After Fort Croghan Day, I was motivated to work on some historical research. I've been to Mahomet Cemetery recently, Las Tres Marias Cemetery (which is in Williamson County), the Marble Falls City Cemetery, and recently, the Dobyville Cemetery. I'm working on updating some of the Yeary family information and I'll add it somewhere here on the website. Years ago, I was sadly intrigued by the story of two doctors that worked in northern Burnet County during the Spanish Flu epidemic. Both passed away in 1918. One of the doctors was Dr. J. M. Yeary who was just about 40 years old when he died. While that was interesting, what his widow did is even more interesting. I'll tell you another time. I'll hint that it involves a wagon.
I'm working on adding basic information on the towns and hamlets of Burnet County. I also hope to add some basic info like who are the early families of Burnet County. I'll start with the Yearys and they also have early connections with the Warners, Cooks, and Howells. I know there are others but I need to start somewhere.
But I got going on that and realized I had not finished uploading all the Plaza of Honor brick info. I had the grey ones done, our earliest people. But I was not finished with the terracotta bricks. I need to get that done. It is up but it's a little rough. I want to take pictures of each brick and put it along side each bio. Also, at the bottom of each biography, It says "read more" but there is no more. There is a button I need to switch somewhere. I just need to find it. And yeah on the home page, the buttons look different because they are different. I'll fix it later. Oh, and I know I need to resort the list. There is always one more thing!
The Christmas at Fort Croghan info is up and current. It will be a very nice time. I hope you can come on by and visit. It's time to pull out our soup recipes and our cookie recipes. Fort Croghan Day was such fun visiting with old friends, making new friends, making plans, and just enjoying the day and sharing these old time activities with the children.
